Besonderheiten: Der François Voyer - Grande Champagne XO 1er Cru stammt aus der renommierten Region Grande Champagne in Frankreich, die für ihre hochwertigen Cognacs bekannt ist. Diese Originalabfüllung vereint Eaux-de-Vie, die zwischen 10 und 25 Jahren gereift sind. Die Reifung erfolgt zunächst in neuen Limousin-Eichenfässern für drei Jahre, gefolgt von einer weiteren Lagerung in älteren Fässern. Der Cognac wird in einer Geschenkverpackung präsentiert, was ihn zu einem ansprechenden Geschenk macht.

  • Nase: Der XO 1er Cru zeigt eine bernsteinfarbene Nuance mit goldenen Reflexen. In der Nase entfalten sich Aromen von Weinbergpfirsich, Pflaume und Quittenpaste, ergänzt durch Vanillenoten, die ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis zwischen Frucht und Holz darstellen.
  • Gaumen: Am Gaumen offenbart sich der Cognac mit grosser Eleganz und einer Harmonie zwischen sanften und kraftvollen holzigen sowie fruchtigen Noten.
  • Abgang: Der Abgang ist langanhaltend und geprägt von einer angenehmen Wärme.

Destillerie/Abfüller: François Voyer ist ein Familienunternehmen mit über 200 Jahren Erfahrung in der Cognac-Produktion. Die Weinberge des Unternehmens, die sich über 28 Hektar in der Grande Champagne erstrecken, sind bekannt für ihre hochwertigen Ugni Blanc-Trauben. Unter der Leitung von Kellermeister Pierre Vaudon werden die Eaux-de-Vie in traditionellen Charentaiser Brennblasen destilliert. Die Reifung erfolgt in zwei Phasen, wobei zunächst drei Jahre in neuen Fässern und danach in älteren Fässern gelagert wird.

A familiar story, just with…..less.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
