The book literally covers everything you need to know about the New Testament in the Roman world, from history and religious backgrounds to book by book studies and concluding with textual criticism, the development of the canon and the responsibilities of the Church in living the life expounded on in the scriptures. Very highly recommended.

Dr Wright’s book are known for their readability. This book can be read cover to cover or used as reference material on a single chapter. It does weigh 4.5 pounds probably caused by the heavy glossy paper pages. The maps and illustrations require this type of paper (I think) and there are illustrations and maps on most every page. As usual with a Wright & Byrd book, the NT is placed in a geographical and historical context that sheds light on its meaning to modern readers. If you teach this subject at your church (or just want to learn), you will benefit from the information in this book.
