Emla Cream 5% 30g is a local anaesthetic cream that can be applied to the skin to suppress the pain of needle procedures. Its formula has been used successfully in GP surgeries and hospitals for years. Emla cream contains prilocaine and lidocaine, two ingredients that numb the skin. (The cream is left on the skin for at least 60 minutes to take effect). The result is one you'll love - less pain when you have a needle procedure.

Disclaimer: the manufacturer of Emla cream has directed that this product cannot be used for cosmetic and tattooing purposes. We are only able to supply this product for use with injections, blood samples and minor skin surgery. If you order this product for any other purpose your order will be rejected.

How does Emla Cream work?
Emla cream is a local anaesthetic that can be applied to the skin to help suppress the pain of needle procedures. When Emla cream is applied to the skin, the lidocaine and prilocaine prevent pain signals passing from that area to the brain and so numb the skin. This means otherwise painful procedures can be performed without causing pain.

What is Emla Cream used for?
Many of us are anxious about having vaccinations, mainly because of the pain of the injection. The cream can be used to temporarily numb the surface of the skin before procedures such as injections, taking blood samples and minor skin surgery.
You can apply Emla cream at home, prior to a needle involving procedure, to reduce pain and so make it less distressing for you or your child when visiting a doctor.
Emla cream can be used to temporarily numb the genital skin before surgical treatment of localised lesions, such as the removal of genital warts. In adult men it can also be used to numb the genital skin before injections of local anaesthetics into this area. A doctor or nurse must supervise the use of Emla when used on the genitals.
Why use Emla Cream?
If you hate needles you're not alone. Approximately 10% of people have a real aversion to needles. We're not sure why this happens, but the physical pain of the needle may create a psychological fear of needles in the future. Children can become affected and, if not addresses, this fear can become a problem in adulthood too. There are lots common reasons for needles to be used these days. These can include blood testing, blood donation, vaccinations and some minor cosmetic skin procedures.
So if you're looking for a less painful needle experience, Emla cream is a great way to help make sure that's what you get. Over 230 million people worldwide have been effectively treated with Emla and it has been used successfully by hospitals & G.P. practices in the UK since 1996.

Emla Cream 5% 30g instructions for application:
Make sure that the area of the skin to be anaesthetised is clean and dry. Shave the area prior to application if necessary. Squeeze half a 5g tube of Emla cream (about 2g) onto the procedure site, over an area the size of a 50p coin. For more specific instructions, depending on age, part of the body or procedures, usage timings may be as little as 10 minutes, see the pack leaflet.
Take one of the occlusive dressings and remove the centre cut-out piece. Peel the protective paper away from the underside. Cover the Emla cream with the dressing so that you get a thick layer underneath. Do not spread out the cream. Press down the edges firmly to avoid leakage.
Remove the paper frame. Write the time of application onto the dressing. Emla must be applied at least one hour before the procedure and can be left in place for up to five hours for adults and four hours for children. The longer the cream stays on, the better the anaesthetic effect.

When ready for use, remove the dressing and wipe off excess cream with a tissue.
Please make sure an appropriate occlusive dressing is used to cover the skin to maximise the absorption, and leave on the skin surface for adequate time (usually 60 minutes) ahead of the needle procedure. You can also ask your pharmacist to advise you on how much to use and where to apply. Please ensure the needle procedure is performed within the following four hours, but preferably as soon as possible after removal of the excess cream.

Emla Cream 5% 30g warnings:
Carefully follow the instructions supplied with the cream.
Wash your hands after applying the cream, unless your hands are the area being treated.

Take care to avoid contact of Emla Cream with the eyes, as this could numb the eye and prevent its protective reflexes, resulting in irritation. If you accidentally get the cream in your eyes, rinse well with lukewarm water or saline solution and protect the eye until sensation returns.

Opens the can weird, but functional
Color: Black/Battery
Ehhh it’s easy to use and gets it open, my only issue is that it doesn’t open a can like a regular can opener where it is cut on top of the can and you can push it in the can to drain if needed. Rather it cuts the outside of the can as it spins around, so it doesn’t fit inside the can. Not very handy when you’re opening a can of tuna and want to drain the tuna juice, so I had to keep my manual one, that I was trying to get rid of by buying this electric one 🙃

Works Great!
Color: Black/Battery
I've only used it a few times since it arrived and it works great. Much better than the hand cranking can opener I've been using. It's a little loud, but that's not enough of a deterrent for me to stop using it. The noise is a temporary annoyance that I'll gladly put up with to have a can opener that actually completely opens a can.

This electric can opener is a game-changer in the kitchen. It operates smoothly with just the press of a button and leaves safe, smooth edges on the cans. Very compact and handy.

Injured finger from use
Color: Black/Battery
Just used the product for the first time today. Beware, it does work but it cut my daughter’s finger open really bad because it made the edge of the can stringy and she cut her finger on it. Be careful.
