Can this redwood handrail be used outdoors?
This product is machined for internal joinery use. Redwood without treatment is not suitable for exposed external conditions. For an outdoor application, the timber would need thorough treatment with an exterior-grade preservative or finish, and even then a hardwood or treated softwood profile would be a more durable choice.
Does it come pre-finished or ready to paint?
The rail is supplied unfinished and machined clean. It can be painted, stained, oiled, or varnished to your specification. Light sanding with 120-grit paper before applying a primer or base coat will give a cleaner finish on the machined faces.
